Jesus also, that he might sanctify the people with his own blood, suffered outside the gate.  Therefore, let us go forth to him outside the camp, bearing his reproach.  For we have no continuing city here, but we seek one to come.

ABRAHAM’S PROMISE AND THE RESURRECTION

“And the LORD said unto Abram, after that Lot was separated from him, Lift up now thine eyes, and look from the place where thou art northward, and southward, and eastward, and westward, for all the land which thou seest, to thee will I give it, and to thy seed for ever. And I will make thy seed as the dust of the earth, so that if a man can number the dust of the earth, then shall thy seed also be numbered.”
Genesis 13:14-16

From an email from Sister Sandy

Bro. John:

Yesterday, I was reading your father’s tract, “The New Earth”, and I received such a blessing! It is a wonderful tract and what I found in it established a deeper understanding of God’s promise to Abraham. And a deeper love and thankfulness for God and His Son! It felt so good!

In that tract, I read this: “In order for God to fulfill his promise to Abraham, there MUST be a resurrection.” Then, I stopped and read it again. I felt the Spirit “quicken” within, and it started leading me on a “follow-the-geography” path! Paul says in Titus 1:2, “In hope of eternal life, which God, who cannot lie, promised before the world began. . . .” If God promised the hope of eternal life before the world began, and he cannot lie, and there MUST be a resurrection, then what does that mean for us?

As I was “following the geography” of it all, I began to see that if there MUST be a resurrection, then there MUST be a holy Ghost [because by it we will be raised from the dead], and if that, then Jesus had to die to send back the Spirit, and if that, then God committed the life of his Son on the day that He made the promise to Abraham of an everlasting covenant because the Spirit of God through Jesus is the only everlasting covenant! When that thought came to me, it brought a feeling of such overwhelming love that I could barely take it in. I know that I have probably heard or read about all that “a thousand times” and had thought I understood it, but I can tell you when the Spirit gets into something, the understanding with God’s knowledge is what establishes the heart in things of God.

God promised before the world began the life of his Son, so that not only Brother Abraham, but WE also, his seed, would have an everlasting covenant! And not only that, but God committed the life of his Son again when he gave the Law the everlasting Law that was written in our hearts by the holy Ghost!

“But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; after those days, saith the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people”(Jeremiah 31:33).

Hallelujah, Jesus! I feel as if I have found a “God” nugget! I love being taught by God. He takes our little bit of understanding and adds His knowledge and wisdom and establishes in our hearts the things of God!

It pays to read the tracts, it pays to listen to meeting tapes, it pays to seek and search and find HIM! And the greatest reward is yet to come-the Everlasting New Earth!

I don’t know if I’ve even touched on what I know all this must mean, but the little that I received felt wonderful! When I was in Xty, we were taught that the life and death of Jesus was basically in the New Testament! The Old Testament was treated just as “stories of old.” Now I see that God, who has no Beginning or Ending, had the Promise, the Everlasting Covenant, the Hope of Eternal Life in Jesus, His Son, before the world began . . . . And that God was ready to commit the life of His Son on the day He made that great promise to Abraham.

PS Here are some of the Scriptures I looked up that are related to this:

2 Peter 3:13 “Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.”
Genesis 13:14-16 “And the LORD said unto Abram, after that Lot was separated from him, Lift up now thine eyes, and look from the place where thou art northward, and southward, and eastward, and westward. For all the land which thou seest, to thee will I give it, and to thy seed for ever. And I will make thy seed as the dust of the earth: so that if a man can number the dust of the earth, then shall thy seed also be numbered.”
Genesis 17:2-8 “And I will make my covenant between me and thee, and will multiply thee exceedingly. And Abram fell on his face: and God talked with him, saying, ‘As for me, behold, my covenant is with thee, and thou shalt be a father of many nations. Neither shall thy name any more be called Abram, but thy name shall be Abraham; for a father of many nations have I made thee. And I will make thee exceeding fruitful, and I will make nations of thee, and kings shall come out of thee. And I will establish my covenant between me and thee and thy seed after thee in their generations for an everlasting covenant, to be a God unto thee, and to thy seed after thee. And I will give unto thee, and to thy seed after thee, the land wherein thou art a stranger, all the land of Canaan, for an everlasting possession; and I will be their God.’ ”
Romans 4:13-17 “For the promise, that he should be the heir of the world, was not to Abraham, or to his seed, through the law, but through the righteousness of faith. For if they which are of the law be heirs, faith is made void, and the promise made of none effect because the law worketh wrath. For where no law is, there is no transgression. Therefore it is of faith, that it might be by grace; to the end the promise might be sure to all the seed; not to that only which is of the law, but to that also which is of the faith of Abraham, who is the father of us all (as it is written, “I have made thee a father of many nations”) before him whom he believed, even God, who quickeneth the dead, and calleth those things which be not as though they were.”
Galatians 3:7 “Know ye therefore that they which are of faith, the same are the children of Abraham.”
Ezekiel 37:12-14 “Therefore prophesy and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, O my people, I will open your graves, and cause you to come up out of your graves, and bring you into the land of Israel. And ye shall know that I am the LORD, when I have opened your graves, O my people, and brought you up out of your graves, and I shall put my Spirit in you, and ye shall live, and I shall place you in your own land: then shall ye know that I the LORD have spoken it, and performed it, saith the LORD.”
Psalms 37:34 “Wait on the LORD, and keep his way [covenant], and he shall exalt thee to inherit the land. When the wicked are cut off, thou shalt see it.”
