Jesus also, that he might sanctify the people with his own blood, suffered outside the gate.  Therefore, let us go forth to him outside the camp, bearing his reproach.  For we have no continuing city here, but we seek one to come.

What Is Not Christian, Part 4
The Love of God, Response

Pastor John:

You wrote in the TFM on What is Not Christian: The Love of God, “The love of God is the love of God. It is not a love of religion, per se. The love of God is the love of what God is, the love of what He does, what He says, and what He thinks.

John, this was so good to me. Anyone can do this, if they have, as you said, A LOVE OF GOD.

The love of God loves what God does (He gives people the holy Ghost baptism). If we don’t have that love, we don’t have the real love of God. The love of God loves what God IS (He is NOT a Christian and never was). If we want to stay and be a Christian, it is not God’s love involved. The love of God loves what God says (He is saying “come out of her my people”). The real love of God will hear that voice, and obey it. And finally, the love of God loves what God thinks (whatever that may be, and it’s always new and alive). If we have the real love of God, we love and expect to hear something from the Spirit - something alive - we are just hungry and waiting for it to come!

The truth makes God’s way available to everyone who has a heart for God. That’s what I love about it. It comes from him, and “He is not willing that anyone should perish.” It’s available!

Thank you for these nuggets.

Gary
