Jesus also, that he might sanctify the people with his own blood, suffered outside the gate. Therefore, let us go forth to him outside the camp, bearing his reproach. For we have no continuing city here, but we seek one to come.

“There is therefore, now, no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh but after the Spirit.”
Paul, in Romans 8:1
From a sermon by Pastor John at his house, November 5, 2006.
To walk in the Spirit of God is not a Christian thing to do because if you walk in the Spirit, you will walk right out of Christianity. That is where the Spirit leads us if we follow it (Rev. 18:1-5).
To walk in the Spirit is not a Christian thing to do because if you walk in the Spirit, you will not fulfill the lust of the flesh (Gal. 5:15), such as making a show of serving God with fleshly ceremonies, such as baptisms of the flesh, showy robes for worship, and ceremonial meals.
To walk in the Spirit is not a Christian thing to do because if you walk in the Spirit, you will walk in the light (Jn. 8:12), and you will not live in the darkness of confusion about the doctrine (Jn. 7:17) or remain in the divisions instituted by men (Prov. 21:16).
To walk in the Spirit is not a Christian thing to do because if you walk in the Spirit, you will come to sinless perfection in the sight of God, having perfect fellowship with the saints who also walk in light (1Jn. 1:7).
To walk in the Spirit is not a Christian thing to do because if you walk in the Spirit, you will walk as Christ walked, not as carnally minded men who cannot be of the same heart and mind (1Jn. 2:6; 4:17).
To walk in the Spirit is not a Christian thing to do because if you walk in the Spirit, you will not live according to your own choices (2Pet. 3:3); you will not “join the church of your choice” because there is no church that is of God so that you may safely join it.
To walk in the Spirit is not a Christian thing to do because if you walk in the Spirit, you will “speak the truth in love”, and Christianity cannot survive if the truth is made known.
To walk in the Spirit is to be like God. It is not the Christian thing to do because neither God nor His Son is a Christian.
