The Father and The Son

The doctrine of the nature of God , His Son and the holy Spirit has become a standard for Christian orthodoxy. Trinitarianism is required by virtually all of Christianity. Yet the Bible makes many statements that contradict this belief.

More than that, hidden within the prophecies of the Old Testament and the revelation in the New Testament scriptures, is a love story between the Father and His Son, a love revealed by the sending of the Son to redeem men from their sins and giving of the holy Spirit to men.

In the video available at right, Pastor John Clark, Sr. reads the tract "Is Jesus God?" Not only does he read the tract but there is much other good understanding to be received from this reading. We hope you are blessed by what you can learn in this video and from the rest of this topical study page.

THE SIMPLICITY OF THE FATHER AND THE SON

From a sermon by Preacher Clark at Grandma's house, in late 1970.
Sermon recorded on Gary Savelli's CD-3, Reel 1.

There was something Jesus could not do. He could not give the holy Ghost to anyone, including his disciples, while he was here with them. He had to die and return to the Father to offer himself for our sins before the Father would give His holy Spirit to people. Jesus paid a price in blood for you to receive the holy Ghost baptism. There was something else that Jesus could not do; he told the mother of James and John that he could not decide who would sit next to him in the kingdom of God. In fact, Jesus said that in himself, he could do nothing and that it was only by the Father's power in him that he accomplished anything good.

Not only were there things Jesus could not do, but there were things Jesus didn't know. He told his followers that neither he nor the angels knew when he would return to earth. He confessed that no one but the Father knew when that great event would take place. If Jesus were the Father, he would have known when he was returning.

Jesus knew his limitations; God has no limitations of power or knowledge. Jesus honored the Father as having all power, not only in heaven and earth but also power over him. The doctrine of the Trinity claims that Jesus is equal with the Father; Jesus knew nothing about that doctrine. The doctrine of "Jesus only" teaches the same thing; the only difference being that instead of teaching that Jesus is equal with the Father, they teach that Jesus is the Father. But Jesus knew that he was the servant of God, not God Himself. This is as simple and clear a truth that exists in the Bible.

Paul warned the saints at Corinth to be watchful and not to allow eloquent false teachers to steal from their hearts the simple truth of Jesus. That warning still needs to be sounded.
