What Happens At The New Birth, Part One

The experience that Jesus called being "born again" is so great that it cannot be described fully in just a few words. In just the same way that Jesus has a hundred different descriptive titles, such as Savior, Master, Lord, Prince of Peace, etc., so, his very deeds are so full of meaning that many words are needed to fully describe them. Here is a list of what the Bible says happens to us the moment we are "born again". If you can think of any others, please send them in.

1. We receive the Spirit (Rom. 8:9)
2. We are baptized in spirit (Acts 1:5)
3. God speaks through us with "other tongues" or with "stammering lips" (Isa. 28:11; 1Cor. 14:21-22)
4. God becomes our Father (Rom. 8:15; Gal. 4:6)
5. We become children of God (1Jn. 3:1)
6. We are adopted into the family of God (Rom. 8:15; Gal. 4:5)
7. We are made joint-heirs with Christ (Rom. 8:17)
8. Our sins are washed away (Acts 22:16)
9. We enter into Christ (Gal. 3:27)
10. Christ enters into us (Jn. 14:23)
11. We are made "new creatures" (2Cor. 5:17)
12. Our souls are redeemed (Rev. 5:9; Tit. 2:14)
13. We become members of the body of Christ (1Cor. 12:13)
14. We are circumcised in our heart (Rom. 2:28-29; Col. 2:11)
15. We are both buried with Christ and risen with him (Col. 2:12)
