The Gospel
Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God, And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel. Mar. 1:14-15
Everywhere, ministers of Christianity claim to be preaching the gospel. Yet, Scripture also warns us of those who pervert the gospel of Christ and preach another gospel. Peter wrote of them who had "preached the gospel unto you with the Holy Ghost sent down from heaven". If the Spirit of God is not present then the gospel is not being preached.

THE GOSPEL, PART FIVE
I recently listened to a CD from a prayer meeting in Pastor John's house that took place on June 5th, 2004. In it, Pastor John was telling of a dream he had in which Jesus was preaching to him. He said that Jesus preached to him in his dream for about half an hour on the glory of the Gospel. This is the final in a series of five TFE's taken from Pastor John's sermon in that prayer meeting concerning what the Lord preached to him about the Gospel.

We who love God are not "backward" people; we are ahead of our time. On Judgment Day, everybody is going to bow and praise our God. The Gospel is timeless. It is eternal. You don't see a lot of the Gospel on television because the real Gospel is in power, and men are ashamed of it. There's many a proud minister waving the Bible high in the air boasting that he is not ashamed of the Gospel, when the truth is that if the true Gospel would show up; he'd run. He'd denounce it. The Bible is not the Gospel. The Bible is a book that tells us about the Gospel. There were people just like that in Jesus' time, and he told them, "You search the Scriptures because in them you think you have eternal life; but they are they which testify of me, and you won't come to me that you may have life." Many a person has gone to Hell with a Bible tucked in their coffin with them. The Bible is not going to save you; as a matter of fact, it is not even going to guide you. "The letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life." Do you believe that? He will keep you in perfect peace if you keep your mind on Him. It is not about us. "Let this mind be in you that was also in Christ Jesus." He kept his mind on God and stayed in perfect peace with God all the way through his life and death.
The Gospel is a glorious thing. The glory of the Gospel can hardly be told. You've got to feel it to know what I am talking about. Paul called it a "glorious Gospel". It's full of glory. Paul had a good testimony before he died. He said that he had fully preached the Gospel. What a good testimony! In this generation, there is not a single one of us that has ever seen the Gospel fully preached. We have just seen bits and pieces, but God is going to restore it to His people before the end. There is still work for us to do. God, help us to do the work. Jesus said the laborers are few. God's people are starving.
This Gospel is a blessing. It's a healer. A restorer of lost feelings. It binds up old wounds. It makes friends out of enemies and gives peace to troubled hearts. It lifts up heads of people who have disgraced themselves; it makes them happy to be alive. This Gospel gives us understanding, about life, about others, and about God; it reveals the purpose of you being on this planet; it's a Gospel of hope for the hopeless and grace for the wasted life; it is salvation for the lost and wandering. This Gospel is the most precious thing that has ever existed on this planet. The Gospel is pure and holy and peaceable. It's friendly because it is of God, our Friend.
The holy Ghost is wise and sweet; it is generous, temperate, patient, loving, clean, pure, long suffering, and it makes you that way when you give in to it. The Gospel is all you need.
